Here at Friday Night Readers, we live for Friday nights. We’re inspired by Gilmore Girls, but instead of having Friday night dinners with Richard and Emily, we read like Rory!
I’ve had a special Friday night self-care routine since we all became homebound in 2020. I shared it on Meg’s Reading Room podcast and wanted to share it with you too, since it’s “our thing.”
My Friday Night Routine
The staple in my Friday night bath:
Necessaire personal care products. Necessaire believes in clean ingredients and treating your body’s skin the same way you treat your face’s skin. So they use facial-grade ingredients with vitamins known to deliver real results. Learning this was an “a-ha moment” for me… and then actually using their luxurious products felt totally worth the social media hype—one beauty splurge I stand by. The award-winning, cult favorite Body Wash in Eucalyptus is my personal fave.

“I have a very, very specific Friday night routine. So, 5 o'clock is when I do my workouts. It just works best for me to do them … right when the workday ends.
So, I still try to get my workout in even though it's Friday. Then I always take a bath because baths are so comforting to me. I take a bath almost every day, but the Friday ones are my favorites.
… I put the oils in and make it extra special. I just love that warm feeling. Then I always do my nails.
… By that time, my husband's ready to do dinner on the couch and wine and watch a show. Then when he goes to bed, it's my reading time.”

My Friday Night Essentials
With a Friday night routine this specific, you better believe I have my essentials squared away! Here they are:
Bala Bangles 2pc Wrist & Ankle Weight Set: These add a bit of resistance to my workouts.
Yoga Mat: Any one will do; this is just an example.
Necessaire The Body Essentials: the gold standard in bath-time luxury. Eucalyptus is the best scent, and I most highly recommend the shower gel. Use code JULIANNE10 for 10% off.
Nordstrom Moonlight Eco Knit Pajamas: cozy, comfortable, and long-lasting
Barefoot Dreams Cozy Chic Socks: the softest and longest-lasting
ChappyWrap Blanket: large, soft, super warm, cats love them! We have several and have used them daily for years.
Olive & June nail products: I haven’t been back to the salon in 5+ years!
Vintage Etched Toasting Champagne Flutes: high-end look for a mid-range price; we love these beauties
Skinny Pop Popcorn: 100-calorie snack packs! We love to add seasoning
Kindle: I use and recommend the Paperwhite (a mid-range option) because it offers plenty of storage without unnecessary bells and whistles. I’ve had the same one for about 8 years.

If you are in the market for Bala Bangles but don't want to pay full price, try to check if your Marshalls have them. They started carrying Bala products this year (they tend to go fast) but you may be in luck. I got the Bala mat, beam and Bangles for a fraction of the price.
I've been doing my O&J gel manis on Sunday nights so it looks fresh through the work week. I'm trying to decide which of the fall colors to buy. Leaning towards brown.
