Bookmarks: The Best of October 2025 in One Place
Changes to Libby holds, books that shaped readers like Rory in high school, 90s nostalgia, and more!
Hi Friday night readers,
I say this every month, and it remains true— these Bookmarks posts are something I love doing and love that you love them. I love knowing you can get what you want out of the internet without all the toxicity. And I love that you find real value in it. That’s a lot of love!
Grab your jumbo coffee, coffee, coffee, and peruse at your leisure!
Top 3 Bookmarks
All subscribers get access to my top three bookmarks!
One. In case you missed it on social media, Libby has changed how holds work. “Deliver later” now suspends your hold, and you must unsuspend it to get the book delivered later.
Two. NPR polled 1,100 readers on what books shaped them in high school, and as you may expect, most overlap with Rory’s reading list.
Three. Author Jo Piazza shared a podcast episode hypothesizing that late 90s nostalgia (like Gilmore Girls) isn’t just trendy now — but perhaps that it will be “in” for the long term, given it’s the last time we lived a modern life without social media. I thought it was such a smart take and, yet again, begs the question, why do we remain addicted to our phones when we felt so much better before them?
Bonus. I wanted to let you know that I recently updated my ShopMy storefront to get started on holiday shopping lists and guides. Right now, it’s filled with just about every Gilmore Girls merch I could add! Soon, I’ll add specific gift guides.
Want more? Paid subscribers get ~30 more of the most interesting content pieces I found this month about books, adaptations, Gilmore Girls, and the literary lifestyle. You’ll learn everything from book award news to adaptations starring Gilmore Girls characters, Gilmore Girls recipes, and cozy movie recs. Plus, access all other member printables, content, chats, and, oh, so much more!
