Bookmarks: The Best of December 2025 in One Place
The sanctity of literary, a new Gilmore Girls book, what I'm doing after Christmas, and 25 more actually useful and interesting pieces of content!
Hi Friday night readers,
I’m currently looking back at last month’s Bookmarks email to you, feeling completely perplexed that a month has passed. It’s all a blur this time of year! We’ve been as busy as everyone with holiday shopping, events, end-of-year tasks, etc., etc., etc.
Workwise, the most important thing to reiterate is that the 2026 6th Annual Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge is now live! There’s this vague notion of what makes a well-read reader that can be hard to define, but to me, it’s this list of books on Gilmore Girls. If they are your literary icons, too, then read and rewatch with us this year!
We are inching very, very closely toward my year-end goal of becoming a Substack bestseller, and I’m anxiously awaiting this “little but feels big” moment. I’m also contemplating ways to make our club as impactful as possible. I’ve been learning more about how classic book reading is down in schools, and I feel like we can bridge that gap in a bigger and better way.
As for my personal life, I don’t have much to share besides our Thanksgiving photo…
…and the first snow (today) in Philly. Yes, I smelled it!

Onto the things I bookmarked this month!
The Sanctity of Literacy is a very important read, by a dyslexic educator, with lots of startling stats and information on how we got to a place of illiteracy in America.
Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and Lauren Graham are writing a behind-the-scenes book about Gilmore Girls, to be published in 2027.
Several other creators and I shared how we plan to spend the week between Christmas and New Year’s with Brittany Viklund. The theme throughout all is that “less is more!” She’s one of my absolute favorite creators, so I hope you check it out.
